Anthropic's PDF skill reads and builds PDF files, including merge, split, forms, encryption, and OCR for scans. Give it the file on purpose. It is not a connection to a document system.
“Read this PDF and list the form fields that are still empty. Do not flatten or encrypt the file.”
The skill file says to use it for any PDF task: extracting text and tables, merging and splitting, rotating, watermarks, creating PDFs, filling forms, encrypting or decrypting, extracting images, and OCR. Basic operations use Python's pypdf. Forms have a separate instruction file inside the skill.
License terms are Anthropic's source-available license in the skill folder, not an open-source grant. Treat scanned contracts and customer PDFs as sensitive even though the risk label is medium rather than a live accounting login.
